The clock is in the Empire style. The case of the clock may be made from a gemstone or white marble. The base of the case is made from bronze using decorative elements.

The sculptural composition is evoked by Greek mythology. From his mother Hippolytus inherited a passion for hunting. He is depicted as a handsome young man. The fell of lion killed by him is thrown over his shoulder, a quiver with arrows being in one hand and a bow in the other.

Hippolytus is hunting. For a moment the youth became lost in his thoughts — he is in hesitation which way to go. His faithful dog stands still in expectation.

There is a legend connected with Hippolytus. Being especially devoted to the goddess of hunting Artemis he despised love. Aphrodite took cruel revenge on this self-confident blockhead because of his scorn. She inspired his stepmother Phaedra with a passionate love for her stepson. Hippolytus rejected her and Phaedra put an end to her life leaving a note in which she claimed that he had tried to rape her.

Theseus was furious and turned to Poseidon for help to punish his son. In answer to his plea the god sent an ox as Hippolytus was driving his chariot at full speed. It frightened horses and caused the death of the young man, for Hippolytus fell out of the chariot. Artemis opened Theseus the truth and reconciled the father with his dying son.

The clock is fitted with a quartz movement. Matching candelabra set available, model L5/1002.
