The clock has been made in the Empire style. This clock presents a sculptural composition with beautiful Psyche and Cupid as a winged boy. Psyche (soul, breath) is the personification of human soul. Cupid is the God of Love. The allegory of the composition is human soul striving for love.

Lacius Apulejus in his “Metamorphoses” united the myths about Psyche into a poetic fairy, its plot in brief is as follows: a very beautiful Psyche became the wife of Eros. He would come to see her only by night and she was not allowed to see his face.

Once Psyche disobeyed: she lighted the lamp to admire her handsome husband. An instant later he disappeared. To find Eros and bring him back she had to pass through a lot of ordeal and suffering. Getting over the obstacles she re-united with her beloved and Zeus granted her immortality.

The case of this clock is made from a gemstone.

8-day solid brass “bim-bam” movement, which indicates the time of the hour by striking the number of hours and a passing strike on the half hour.

Matching candelabra set available, models L5/1006, L5/1002, L5/1003, L5/1005, L5/1009, L5/1060.
