This clock has been made in the Empire style.
The scene is taken from Roman mythology: Musicians playing a melody gathered round Minerva, while she is getting ready to the moment of awarding. Her hand with a laurel wreath is stretched out in the expectation of the aspirant to come up to her.
Her other hand is leaning on the lyre. The laureate will play his song to his goddess as a sign of gratitude for the honour done to him.
Minerva is the Roman goddess of wisdom, knowledge and she is the patroness of crafts and art.
8-day solid brass “bim-bam” movement, which indicates the time of the hour by striking the number of hours and a passing strike on the half hour.
